Both mental and physical wellness are important factors throughout all perinatal phases. However, there are times when healthcare providers focus only on the physical aspects of those phases. Our role at LFH is to empower and equip mothers and fathers with the mental strength to overcome challenges faced during the prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum periods. These challenges may include mood changes, anxiety about giving birth, infertility, postpartum mood disorders, and more.

In a study performed in 2018 with 155 participants, only 3 were offered written literature about perinatal mood disorders and only 4 were offered oral communication about perinatal mood disorders (see Drake - Graduate Thesis). It is imperative that women and men have the mental strength to navigate one of life's most prominent changes....the birth of an infant. Resiliency education, techniques, and skills can serve as proactive measures for parents when they encounter challenges and struggles before, during, and after pregnancy.
